Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet community which is situated on the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. The West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is an extensive part that stretches from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel was born there although her time was not long in the city. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa the city of Ontario. Her first ambition was to dance but the growth rate of her body meant she was able to outgrow her dance partner. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed that she was at 6'1 inches tall. As soon as I was able to outgrow male friends, I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on to acting. In the case of Brugel it was a nudge from a high school drama teacher who encouraged her to go in the right direction. The teacher was the one who advised her to audition as Anne in the school's annual production. After trying out, she ended up as the lead actress in Anne of Green Gables. It led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program which she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. For the last two decades she has had her in more than 60 films and television productions. Her most famous role was Rita (shown beneath) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in Season 1 which was only seen occasionally.
